New SFO director takes on troubled agency

David Green has started his first day as director of the UK Serious Fraud Office (SFO), and has promised the agency is "here to stay".

Green moved from the prosecutions office at HM Revenue & Customs to replace outgoing director Richard Alderman, who launched a vigorous campaign during his tenure to maintain the SFO as a freestanding agency – contrary to government plans to merge it into a new Economic Crime Agency.
