Swiss report fingers Finma on Credit Suisse capital ratio

Parliament says bank would have breached minimum requirements in 2022 without regulatory filter

A Swiss Parliament inquiry into Credit Suisse’s 2023 failure has criticised the “relaxation of capital requirements” granted by Finma, the country’s financial regulator.

While judging that the mismanagement of Credit Suisse for years was the origin of the crisis, the report, published today by the Swiss Parliamentary Investigation Committee, also deplores the “lack of effectiveness” of Finma’s supervisory activity.
