Freddie Mac appoints Anurag Saksena as first CRO

Freddie Mac, the second largest US federal mortgage agencys, has hired Anurag Saksena as its first chief enterprise risk officer.

Saksena will report directly to Richard Syron, chairman and chief executive of Freddie Mac. He will be responsible for assessing the company’s exposure to credit, market and operational risk factors across all divisions.

Saksena joins from General Motors Acceptance Corporation, the financial services arm of General Motors, where he held a similar position.

He is also the founder of Enterprise Risk Advisors, a Minneapolis-based risk management consultancy focused on the development and implementation of enterprise risk solutions for financial and non-financial companies. Prior to this, he worked for Société Générale in New York, Royal Bank Financial Group in Toronto and Great-West Life Assurance in Winnipeg.

"Anurag is a seasoned risk management professional with significant expertise in the financial services arena. His skills will be critical in our efforts to further strengthen risk management at Freddie Mac," said Syron, commenting on the appointment.
