Post-merger, Caixa’s credit RWAs jump 47%

In RWA terms, the newly created entity is now bigger than Commerzbank and Rabobank

CaixaBank’s risk-weighted assets (RWAs) ballooned 45%, or €64.5 billion ($78.6 billion), as it digested the acquisition of Bankia in the first quarter of the year – a surge driven almost entirely by the lender's credit book.

The Spanish bank’s RWAs topped €208.6 billion at end-March, up from €144.1 billion three months prior.
