Parliament may decide not to reject Esma standards

Doubt cast over whether a motion to reject two Esma regulatory technical standards will survive a plenary vote on Thursday

A vote on Monday night by the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (Econ) to reject two regulatory technical standards on over-the-counter derivatives and central counterparty requirements may not survive a plenary vote in the parliament on Thursday, some politicians acknowledge.

The Econ committee accepted a recommendation by 24 votes to 20 to reject the regulatory technical standards – primarily due to concerns about the clearing thresholds set for corporate end
