The European Commission is seeking to force clearing houses to reveal more details about how they calculate margin requirements, in a minor victory for banks that have long complained the process is too opaque. Some remain concerned the proposed rules still do not go far enough, though.

Banks have long sought greater transparency on clearers’ margin models, claiming the ability to replicate them accurately is vital to ensuring their exposures are properly measured. The commission’s proposal
