US exchanges that sell derivatives to retail investors in Europe could be caught by the jurisdiction's sweeping new disclosure rules for investment products, legal experts have warned.

Under the European Union's forthcoming regime for packaged retail and insurance-based investment products (Priips) – set to take effect from January 1, 2017 – all products made available for sale to retail investors in the EU must come with a key information document (KID), which places cost, risk and other
