Barclays opts for SunGard’s BancWare

Barclays Bank has implemented SunGard Trading and Risk Systems' BancWare product for its financial risk management activities across the UK, France and Spain.

Barclays will use BancWare for its integrated asset liability management, data management and planning and forecasting of business-level net-interest income.

Pennsylvania-based SunGard says BancWare allows financial institutions to collect, clean and synthesise transaction-level data from various business lines, helping to ensure the quality and consistency of the data. The product also models data under a number of different interest rate scenarios to provide income simulation.

“This integrated solution will enable us to enhance our existing strength in modelling multiple business lines using a common platform with consistent, reliable data,” said Brandon Davies, head of retail market risk management at Barclays in London.
