Many EU banks’ sovereign portfolios highly concentrated

Forty-eight lenders have more than three-quarters of sovereign risk allocated to home country

More than one-third of banks in the European Banking Authority’s (EBA) 2018 transparency exercise had more than 75% of their total sovereign exposures allocated to their home country at end-June 2018, Risk Quantum analysis shows.
