NatWest, StanChart, Nationwide drive record op RWAs at UK banks

BoE data shows operational risk RWAs highest going back to 2014

Risk-weighted assets (RWAs) from operational risk rose to their highest level in at least a decade at UK banks over the first quarter, statistics from the Bank of England show.

Operational RWAs across the whole UK banking sector totalled £334 billion ($426 billion) as of March 31, an increase of £8 billion compared with three months earlier and above the previous record high of £330 billion set in Q4 2016. The available data goes all the way back to Q1 2014.
