

Holdco issuances spur Barclays’ MREL progress
UK bank issues £7.1 billion of MREL debt in first half of 2019
Barclays continued to reshape its capital stack to meet bail-in requirements over the first half of this year.
Over the six months to end-June, the bank issued £7.1 billion ($8.6 billion) of instruments to fulfil its minimum requirement for own-funds and eligible liabilities (MREL), set by the Bank of England (BoE). This is out of a planned full-year issuance of £8 billion.
Barclays made seven MREL-eligible debt issues over the first half of 2019: four US dollar-denominated bonds totalling
