Swiss banks pared securitisation exposures in 2018

Credit Suisse cuts holdings 24%; UBS 80%

UBS cut securitisation exposures by 80% to $493 million and Credit Suisse by 24% to Sfr54.9 billion ($55.2 billion) over the course of 2018.

At UBS, exposures to securitisations originated by the firm itself declined to $97 million at end-2018 compared with $2.1 billion a year prior. Those for which it was a sponsor dropped to just $8 million from $151 million and the size of its own investment in securitisations shrunk to $165 million from $186 million.
