Basel settlement risk guidance puts new demands on forex market

Governance, replacement cost risk, liquidity risk, operational risk and legal risk are among the issues forex dealers must address, according to newly released Basel Committee guidance

A new set of supervisory guidance on the management of foreign exchange settlement risk published at the end of last week puts a renewed onus on regulators and banks to tighten up the management and mitigation of a number of different risks associated with the settlement of foreign exchange trades.
