Group Of 20 Set To Discuss Forex Settlement Risk

THE Group of 20 (G20), a consortium of top-tier commercial banks, will meet this week to discuss ways of using technology and operational procedures to reduce the settlement risks involved in interbank foreign exchange transactions.

Early reports indicate that the G20's plans include examining the feasibility of continuous linked settlement (CLS) -- a settlement method that allows simultaneous debiting of the counterparties involved in a currency trade.

The G20 will also discuss plans for setting
