Bankers – shape up or ship out, says UBS compliance head

Tough approach comes as ECB prepares new guidance on conduct risk for 2024 release

Bankers who won’t accept a strong governance culture should be given their marching orders, the head of compliance at a global bank has told a conference, as the European Central Bank (ECB) unveiled plans to publish standards on conduct and culture next year.

Denise Bauer-Weiler, group head of compliance and governance at UBS, said senior managers need to make clear throughout the bank what they want to achieve on culture.
