The bushveld, a huge expanse of grassland and forest in the northeast corner of South Africa, is famous for its wildlife – white rhinos, leopards and giraffes can all be found here – but when Caroline Henry visits, she wears a hard hat. The treasurer of Eskom, the country's power monopoly, regularly makes the 365 kilometre-trip from the company's headquarters outside Johannesburg, in order to show investors round Medupi, one of three giant power stations the company is building to belatedly
