Growth in the financial markets of Japan, India and Indonesia must be seen in context

From a global perspective the biggest Asian story this year has been Japan. Or to be more specific the potential for so-called Abenomics to drag the economic leviathan from its extended period of stagnation. The falling yen and the resultant spike in the Nikkei – despite the recent signs of backtracking on both – could presage a return to growth for Asia’s second largest economy.

This recent upturn in economic fortune does have to be put into perspective: at the time of writing the Nikkei 225
