Singapore looks to electricity futures market

Singapore is moving closer to the creation of an electricity futures market, according to comments made by the head of the national energy regulator.

Singapore is looking at the possibility of creating an electricity futures market, according to Chee Hong Tat, head of Energy Market Authority (EMA), the Singaporean regulator.

"The EMA is studying the possibility of introducing an electricity futures market as part of our objective of having a competitive energy market in Singapore," Chee told Energy Risk in an email.
