One year after Sept. 11, Morgan Stanley contemplates a simple thought with complex repercussions: Don't put all of your eggs in one basket.

Along with making sure that its people are okay in the event of a disaster, the business continuity planning (BCP) team led by Gregory Ferris and Adam Taubman at Morgan Stanley has a three-fold mission for weathering another disaster on the magnitude of Sept. 11, 2001. In essence, the company is testing new technologies, exploring new ideas and pursuing a strategy of geographically dispersing its assets—a strategy the firm refers to as "diversification."
