A full checkup of your IT systems by external consultants is preferable to trusting inside sources, says a head of technology at a major French banking group.

Avram Kornberg believes that a clean bill of health is the key to good practice in capital markets IT.

The CIO of the New York arm of French banking group Natexis Banques Populaires (NBP), Kornberg was head of technology at US mutual funds firm OppenheimerFunds until moving to NBP two years ago. At Oppenheimer, Kornberg undertook regular external audits of the firm’s IT infrastructure. "I decided after my first year at NBP to budget for an annual check up," he says.
