Speedy passage of CRD urged on Parliament

BRUSSELS – Members of the European Parliament are being urged to expedite the passage of the Capital Requirements Directive (CRD), after the publication of the rapporteur ’s report by German MEP Alexander Radwan in late April.

The report was posted on the website of the Committee of Economic and Monetary affairs in late April, but according to a spokesperson for Radwan’s office, the deadline for amendments to the report is May 11. MEPs will discuss the amended report on May 24, and it will be voted on by the committee on June 15.

If this schedule is met, the directive should have a vote on September 28 by the whole European Parliament, and the European Council should be able to ratify it at its December 2 meeting.
