Belated US Basel II guidance finally released

WASHINGTON DC - After months of mounting frustration at the lack of information from US regulators on Basel II implementation, long-awaited supervisory guidance on the advanced measurement approach (AMA) has finally been published by the interagency authorities.

The proposed supervisory guidance for Advanced Measurement Approaches for Operational Risk is a companion piece to the notice of proposed rulemaking (NPR) that was issued by the Federal Reserve, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Office of Thrift Supervision in September 2006, and is designed to "provide additional detail that should help banks satisfy the qualification requirements in the NPR", according to the report.
