Barclays Capital boosts power market analysis

The investment banking division of Barclays Bank has acquired the assets of Powerlytix, a provider of fundamental market data analysis for the US electricity and natural gas markets.

The bank says that it plans to integrate Powerlytix tools into its existing global commodities business. Powerlytix has been providing wholesale energy forecasts, market commentary and data aggregation services to customers in North America since 2001. It offers daily aggregation, modelling and simulation services using electricity and natural gas data, developing information based views on market relationships and behaviours.
