Regulators are planning to tackle one of the banking industry's biggest gripes with the leverage ratio, Risk has learned – its treatment of segregated initial margin. The issue has divided supervisors in recent weeks, with the chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission joining US politicians in calling for it to be relaxed, while the vice-chair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation told reporters on March 2 it should not be watered down.
