The Accord has landed

The final Basel II document is here, but the response, possibly inevitably, has been mixed so far. Ellen Leander reports

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision released the final Basel II document at the end of June, and the resulting product is a bit of a mixed bag for the industry. While the intense industry lobbying efforts to alter some of the language since the publication of the third consultative paper in April 2003 have clearly paid off, in other areas the industry has expressed disappointment.
