European regulators are likely to publish rules on margining for non-cleared swaps by January and are aiming to align these with international standards, a European Commission (EC) official has said.

The January publication date puts the European Union on track to phase in the provisions from September 2016, as proposed in a consultation paper earlier this year and in line with the timeline for implementing a US version of the regime.
