ABA chief disagrees with the findings of a new government report on Australia's banking system, which states the major banks have a shortage of capital

Responding to a new report about the health of the Australian financial system, Steven Münchenberg, chief executive of the Australian Bankers' Association (ABA), says more work needs to be done before deciding how much more capital banks in Australia should be forced to raise.

The final report of the Financial System Inquiry (FSI), set up by the Australian government in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, was released on December 7. It asserted that the capital levels of Australian banks were
