SEC announces creation of new risk office

The newly created SEC Office of Risk Assessment will use data-driven tools to aid in risk analysis for the US regulator

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the formation of a new office within the Division of Economic and Risk Analysis.

The Office of Risk Assessment will provide data-driven risk assessment tools and assessments of market risks to aid the SEC.

A new assistant director is being sought to head the office, and the SEC says new staff will be appointed from within the Economic and Risk Analysis division.

The office is the latest set of new positions to be announced by the SEC
