Independence day

The hedge fund investor community as a whole is, without doubt, pushing for independence in the service providers that support the funds they invest in.

Administrators should be independent of the managers in the valuations those administrators provide on hedge fund portfolios, and arguably they should also be independent of the prime brokers on whom they may sometimes rely for valuations of particularly complex instruments the portfolio uses.
