Vickers implementation provokes operational risk concerns

Unanswered questions remain over the implementation of Vickers by 2019

Key financial players in the City of London voiced concerns last week about the potential for operational risk when implementing the Vickers Report's reform proposals.

The recommendations to separate UK retail banking operations from investment banking operations were made in September 2011 by the Independent Commission on Banking, chaired by John Vickers, with a view to improve the stability of the UK banking system. The UK government has since confirmed it will be adopting the proposals
