New US coalition targets fair electricity transmission

The Coalition for Fair Transmission Policy (CFTP) has been launched in Washington, DC to campaign for more efficient development of the US electricity grid.

The coalition will seek to ensure transmission planning builds on existing successful, co-ordinated and transparent regional processes, and is inclusive of all stakeholders. The CFTP believes voluntary interconnection co-ordination should be a complement to, and not a substitute for, local and regional processes. 

Cost allocation is a sore subject in the US power market. A transmission line can run across a number of regions, transmitting power from one area to another. The landowners in between
