Lack of resources ‘hindering 2010 compliance’

LONDON – Compliance departments will struggle with the burden of financial regulation in 2010 due to a lack of resources, according to a study by financial services recruitment firm McGregor Boyall.

The survey of 1,000 compliance professionals says budgetary constraints and hiring freezes have contributed to a skills shortage hindering the compliance function’s ability to carry out its proper role.

The study says 40% of respondents reported headcount caps within their departments, with a third
