CarbonDesk opens for business

London-based emissions broker the CarbonDesk has obtained regulated status from the UK's Financial Services Authority (FSA) to begin trading futures, options and derivatives products on the global carbon markets.

"CarbonDesk's sole focus on emissions, which is what we believe makes it stand out from its competitors," says Brett Stacey, chief executive at the CarbonDesk.

According to Stacey, the company plans to open a US office in addition to its 14-strong London team once the US gives a clear indication of its participation in a global carbon agreement. "We expect the US to sign up either at the end of this year or early next year and we are looking to take advantage of the burgeoning market
