CFTC steps up speculator scrutiny

The CFTC is to re-examine the role of speculators as it considers imposing federal position limits on futures trading in energy contracts. Pauline McCallion reports

On July 7, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) chairman Gary Gensler announced a series of public hearings scheduled for July and August to discuss the need for federal position limits on trading in all commodities with finite supply, particularly energy products.
