FDIC plans series of Basel papers

The US-based Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has announced plans to issue a series of papers over the coming months that will analyse the impact that the revisions to the Basel II Accord will have on the US banking system.

At the same time, the agency, which oversees the deposit insurance system in the US, issued its first such paper: “Basel and the Evolution of Capital Regulation: Moving Forward, Looking Back”. The paper provides a discussion of the history of international banking regulation, and outlines the proposals as they stand at the moment.
