Compliance. It's impossible to escape the word, particularly in the financial sector. Whether it's Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel II, Check 21, the USA Patriot Act, the International Accounting Standard, the UK's Freedom of Information Act or its Data Protection Act, executives must think about the issue, prepare plans of action and deliver on them. There appears to be no letup in sight as the next few years look like a hurdle race of deadlines by which CIOs must show they're complying with this
