MEPs critical of the EU CAD return to parliament

In the face of one of the most difficult election environments for European parliamentary elections, two MEPs will be returning who have historically led the anti-Basel movements in that legislative body.

Alexander Radwan, MEP for Germany and a member of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and Democrats and a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, has been at the forefront of arguing that Basel II will create a non-level playing field in the EU in which small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be unable to obtain credit at their local financial institutions. Radwan and other MEPs held two sets of hearings into Basel II and the EU Capital Adequacy
