EU CRD approaching Parliament acceptance

BRUSSELS – The smart odds are now in favour of the EU's Capital requirements directive passing the European Parliament's vote on September 28, according to industry observers involved in negotiating the legislation.

Hitting the September 28 date was touch and go for a while, especially after some 887 amendments were tacked onto the directive during discussions in the Economic and Monetary Affairs (EMA) committee meeting in May. But according to sources, directive rapporteur Alexander Radwan's office has been working non-stop over the past weeks to secure compromises on the amendments and consolidate them down to a manageable number. He's helped by the fact that more than 300 of the amendments
