Fed holds hearing on mortgage regulation

The US Federal Reserve Board is discussing how it can better protect the mortgage market in light of recent difficulties in the industry.

Randall Kroszner, a member of the Fed’s board of governors who chaired the hearing, said: “Rising foreclosures in the sub-prime market over the past year have led the Board to consider whether and how it should use its rulemaking authority to address these concerns.”
