Germany's search for clarification

The second annual Structured Products Deutschland conference, held in Mainz last month, brought the leading lights of Europe's biggest derivatives-based investment market together. And the majority of presentations focused on the need for clarity. Amanda Lee reports

The more that issuers adhere to the German trade body Derivate Forum's code of conduct, the better, said Siegfried Piel, the forum's Frankfurt-based chairman and global head of derivatives trading at Sal Oppenheim, in his keynote address at Structured Products Deutschland.
