Shell appoints governance advisers

Energy major Royal Dutch/Shell Group yesterday appointed investment banks Citigroup and Rothschild as financial advisers to the steering committee reviewing its structure and governance.

Shell said in mid-June the review included possible simplification of the management structures of the boards and the group; improvements to decision-making processes and accountability; and enhancing effective leadership for the group as a whole. The outcome of the review will be announced in November.

Membership of the steering committee is drawn from the boards of the two parent companies, the Royal Dutch Petroleum Company and the Shell Transport and Trading Company. The committee is
