UK committee wants more details on Equitable Life before making judgement

LONDON -- UK legislators said in March they needed more information before forming a conclusive view of the cause of the downfall of Equitable Life, the troubled UK mutual life assurer.

But the UK parliament’s Treasury select committee wants the Financial Services Authority (FSA), Britain’s principal financial watchdog, to consider whether the judgements of Equitable’s auditors, Ernst & Young, were justified.
