Risk interdealer rankings 2010: Dealers

Dealers experienced a bumpy second quarter following the eurozone debt crisis and a spike in volatility. In this tumultuous environment, Deutsche Bank took first place in the Risk interdealer rankings for the second year, with JP Morgan close behind. By Christopher Whittall

This year looks like it could be game-changing for the derivatives industry. New legislation was signed into law in the US on July 21, which will require a huge lump of the over-the-counter derivatives market to be cleared through central counterparties (CCPs). Limits will also be placed on US bank ownership of hedge funds and proprietary trading desks, while deposit-taking banks will essentially be forced to carve out certain parts of their derivatives business into separate affiliates.
