Troubled bank hires ethics board head to help restore confidence after mismanagement led to huge financial losses

The UK's Co-operative Bank has named Laura Carstensen as a non-executive director and chair of its newly established board values and ethics committee.

Carstensen is a member of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, and was previously a partner at London law firm Slaughter and May and deputy chairman of the Competition Commission.
