FIA appoints new president

Walter Lukken, chief executive of pioneering clearing house NYPC - and former CFTC commissioner - replaces John Damgard, FIA head of 30 years

The Futures Industry Association (FIA) has appointed Walter Lukken – currently the chief executive of New York Portfolio Clearing (NYPC) – to be its new president and chief executive. Lukken takes the reins while the futures industry is still responding to the collapse of MF Global at the end of last October.

Lukken will take up the post in time for the next annual meeting of the FIA board of directors, scheduled for March 12. He replaces John Damgard, who was appointed FIA president in 1982 and
