The Hartford chooses chief actuary for its life business

Embattled US insurer The Hartford has appointed Dan Guilbert as chief actuary of Hartford Life, where he will oversee all corporate actuarial, business-risk management and investment-liaison functions for the company's life insurance subsidiaries.

A former chief risk officer and director of enterprise risk management for Hartford Life, Guilbert replaces Jim Trimble as chief actuary, who is due to retire after 31 years with the firm. Guilbert is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of
