The matchmakers

Evolution Securities, a London investment bank previously associated with the equities market and its advisory work with small- and mid-cap clients, has branched into fixed income with the recruitment of two credit market stalwarts, Guy Cornelius and Gary Jenkins. Matthew Attwood met them to discuss their new business and how it differs from the integrated investment banks which, they believe, will not survive the crisis in the financial system in their current form

"The traditional investment banking model is going to change," says Guy Cornelius, head of fixed income at Evolution Securities and an alumnus of perhaps the most shocking casualty of the financial crisis to date, Lehman Brothers. As Lehman's head of European senior client relationship management and a former co-head of European fixed income sales at UBS - just two highlights of an illustrious career on the sell-side - it's a model that he knows well.
