The debt advisory team at investment bank Close Brothers has carved out a lucrative niche for itself in providing independent advice on balance sheet restructurings. With M&A on the rise, business looks set to become brisker, as Hardeep Dhillon reports

As the three directors of the debt advisory group stride into the boardroom of Close Brothers, they bring with them a certain air of accomplishment. The trio are on a high having just closed another successful fund-raising exercise, an achievement reflected in the upbeat mood of Jonathan Trower, Fenton Burgin and Daniel Morland.

The completion of the TM Group buyout is typical of the group's work, advising companies on reorganising their capital structures and improving their financial profiles
