HSBC hires AIG’s Lee as head of currency exotics

Don Lee, the former head of currency options at AIG Financial Products, has joined HSBC in New York as global head of foreign exchange exotics and head of foreign exchange derivatives for the Americas.

Lee, who joins as a managing director, reports to Matt Desselberger, HSBC’s global head of foreign exchange derivatives, and Ben Welsh, head of foreign exchange for the Americas.

The bank said that in addition to developing its broader currency derivatives business, Lee will assume responsibility for expanding HSBC's exotic product profile and distribution globally.

Prior to joining AIG in 2002, Lee worked at Goldman Sachs in the firm’s foreign exchange derivatives and e-commerce businesses.
