JP Morgan boosts currency and commodities business

JP Morgan Chase has hired five vice-presidents for its global currency and commodities unit in London.

Tim Joyce and Hien Huynh will join the currency options group from Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Citigroup, respectively. Joyce will trade emerging market currency derivatives, while Huynh will be responsible for correlation trading. Both Joyce and Huynh will report to Robin Wemyss, European head of currency options.

Antoine Ortiz was named as a senior proprietary trader and will report to Nick Munns, European head of proprietary trading. He previously worked as a senior global fixed-income portfolio manager at Hartford Investment Management in Connecticut.

Eric Sananes will join the commodity sales team from Banque d’Orsay in Paris. He will specialise in energy sales to hedge funds and report to José Cogolludo, European head of commodities sales.

Karim Mir was hired from Merrill Lynch and will trade spot cable (US dollar/sterling) and other products. He will report to Geoff Thorpe, head of spot trading.
